The Very Basis Of The Gospel Is To Know That God Is Love!

Posted on: 18 Comments

The very foundation of Salvation is grounded in the realization that God’s unmerited love toward us is greater than any other power— including death.   Romans 8:35-39, Ephesians 3:14-21

The last rays of merciful light, the last message of mercy to be given to the world, is a revelation of His character of love. The children of God are to manifest His glory. In their own life and character they are to reveal what the grace of God has done for them.  EGW COL 415

The Very Basis Of The Gospel Is To Know That God Is Love!

Knowing and Trusting In God’s Steadfast Love is the very basis of Salvation.  “For God so loved”—that He Gave. John 3:16, 1 Corinthians 13:5

“This is life eternal that they might know you the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” (John 17:3). When we “know” God as Jesus revealed Him to be and trust Him, then we have confidence, faith, or trust in Jesus’ ability to “save” (salvage) us! Our assurance or confidence is in our Savior (just like the thief on the Cross) not in a legal payment.

The Power Of God’s Love! Rom 8:37-39

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the Day of Judgment, because in this world we are like him.  There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.  The one who fears is not made perfect in love.     1 John 4:13-21, John 5:24

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son…   John 3:16-17

And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:17

For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died.   2 Corinthians 5:14

When I thought, “My foot slips,” your steadfast love, O LORD, held me up.          Psalm 94:18

But all of us who are Christians have no veils on our faces, but reflect like mirrors the glory of the Lord. We are transfigured by the Spirit of the Lord in ever-increasing splendour into His own image.   2 Corinthians 3:18

God Loves You Just Like He Loves His Son Jesus!

The one thing above all others that Christ is desirous that we should know is that The Father has loved us even as He loved Him!

I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. John 17:23,26

We have the “assurance” of salvation when we “trust” Jesus with our lives, that’s it.  Once we trust Jesus, He, our great Heavenly Physician, will perfectly heal and restore us, thus our assurance is in Jesus, not in ourselves or our future. Salvation is Now!!   1  John 5:11-13,   1 John 3:2,   John 17:3

1John 5:11-13,   1 John 3:2,   John 17:3

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16 NIV

Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people.       Revelation 14:6

The Gospel Is A Living Demonstration Of God’s Steadfast Love— An Everlasting Love That Holds Me Together And Saves Me!!

 And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.” Genesis 3:15

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor;
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;  Isaiah 61:1

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:10-11

It is very interesting to note that in both Isaiah 61:1 (From The LXX which is the official translation of the Hebrew Bible into Greek) and in Luke 2:10-11 the Greek word for Good News is Gospel! (euaggelizo).

The Power Of God’s Love!

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son… John 3:16

And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:17 NIV

For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died;  2Corinthians 5:14

When I thought, “My foot slips,”
your steadfast love, O LORD, held me up. Psalm 94:18

The Gospel Is The Creative Power of God To Save Us!

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. Romans 1:16, 20, John 3:16, 1 Corinthians 1:24, 18, 2 Timothy 1:8-12

Jesus Is The Gospel!

Christ is the power of God 1Corinthians 1:23-24. Therefore Jesus is the Gospel! And Christ’s Salvation comes through the cross. Mark 1:15, 1Corinthains 1:18

The Gospel is a Mystery Now Revealed!

To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Jesus is “The Only Way” John 14:6 Colossians 1:27, Ephesians 3:3-7, Romans 8:3-4, 11

The Gospel is Christ dwelling inside us and the preaching of the Gospel is making known to others of the possibility of Christ dwelling inside of them! It’s by Faith alone In Jesus that accomplishes this awesome reality!   Ephesians 2:8-9

How does Christ dwell inside us?

Jesus lives inside us through the Holy Spirit. John 16:13, John 14:17 Romans 8:8-11, John 14:16-18, John 16:7, John 17:20-26, Galatians 5:22,23, Revelation 3:20

When I invite Jesus to dwell inside me, He then transforms me into His likeness 1John 3:1-3. He literally lives out His life of victory inside us. Romans 8.:3-4, 8-11,Romans 5:10. All of this is accomplished in me because God is love. 1John 4:8, Jeremiah 31:3, 1Thessalonians 5:23-24, 1Corinthians 1:29,30, Galatians 5:22-23

It is all Christ and nothing that we “do” in the area of putting forth effort.  We simply believe what God says. Praise God we don’t have to save ourselves. Matthew 1:21, John 3:16-17, 2 Timothy 1:9, Titus 3:3-8

And what is my part? Simply to choose Jesus and trust Him with my life! This requires 100 percent surrender to Jesus 100 percent of the time!                       And that’s it!!  John 3:16, Galatians 2:20

Jesus Is About To Come!! Revelation 22:20

1John 5:11-13,   1 John 3:2,   John 17:3

Devotion For April 13th

“Cast thy burden upon the Lord.”

Psalm 55:22

We must distinguish between the burden-bearing that is right and the burden-bearing that is wrong. We ought never to bear the burden of sin or of doubt, but there are burdens placed on us by God which He does not intend to lift off, He wants us to roll them back on Him. “Cast that He hath given thee upon the Lord.” (R.V. marg.) If we undertake work for God and get out of touch with Him, the sense of responsibility will be overwhelmingly crushing; but if we roll back on God that which He has put upon us, He takes away the sense of responsibility by bringing in the realization of Himself.

Many workers have gone out with high courage and fine impulses, but with no intimate fellowship with Jesus Christ, and before long they are crushed. They do not know what to do with the burden, it produces weariness, and people say – “What an embittered end to such a beginning!”

“Roll thy burden upon the Lord” – you have been bearing it all; deliberately put one end on the shoulders of God. “The government shall be upon His shoulder.” Commit to God “that He hath given thee”; not fling it off, but put it over on to Him and yourself with it, and the burden is lightened by the sense of companionship. Never disassociate yourself from the burden.

Issues In The Final Crisis- The Gospel-1

Jesus says that when the Gospel is proclaimed in all the world, the end will come and Jesus will return to receive us , “thus we shall always be with the Lord”! Jesus further says “to comfort each other with this hope”!! 1Thessalonians 4:15-18,  Matthew 24:14, Acts 1:9-11, Revelation 1:7, 6:12-17.

So this final message of Hope and Salvation is the proclamation of the Everlasting Gospel, Revelation 14:6-7. Jesus The Blessed Hope Is About To Appear!! Titus 2:13

This post is part 1 of a three part campmeeting series. Parts 2 & 3 will be appear in the category “Seminars”  soon!

Now Just What Is The Gospel?

The Gospel is that Christ died for our sins, that He was buried and that He rose again. 1Corinthains 16:1-4.

The Gospel is God’s Creative Power of His love to save us from sin! Ephesians 3:17-19, Romans 1:16-17,19-20, Psalm 33:6-9, John 17:26, Romans 8:38-39.

The Gospel declares that Christ is the power of God 1Corinthaians 1:23-24, therefore Jesus is the Gospel who is everything to us!  And Jesus says to believe in the Gospel (Jesus). Mark 1:15,  1Corinthians 1:29-31

Christ’s Salvation comes only through the cross  of Jesus by faith alone.  1Corinthains 1:18

The Gospel is a mystery that has now been revealed, and Jesus Himself will complete The Gospel “in us”, Praise God!! Ephesians 6:19; 3:3-9, Colossians 1:19-23,27, Revelation 10:7,14:14-16, 1John 3:2,5:11-13. Jesus , Himself, will complete The Gospel “in us”!

The mystery of the Gospel is God manifest in us. So Christ dwelling inside us by faith is all the fullness of God in us. The fullness of God is His transforming love for “God is love” 1 John 4:8 Colossians 1:19-23,27, Ephesians 3:17-19.

So here is a great working definition of the Gospel of Jesus:

The Gospel is Christ dwelling inside us by faith, in His transforming- reconciling love and the Preaching of The Gospel is making known to others of the possibility of Christ dwelling inside them!

Faith Is Trusting Jesus With Our Life—-Period!!! Jesus Alone Saves Us!! Romans 4:20-25, Hebrews 11:8-10

The Gospel proclaims that we have the “assurance” of salvation when we “trust” Jesus with our life, that’s it. Once we trust Jesus, He, our great Heavenly Physician, will perfectly heal and restore us, thus our assurance is in Jesus, not in our future or ourselves. “This is life eternal that they might know you the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” (John 17:3). When we “know” God as Jesus revealed Him to be and trust Him, then we have confidence, faith, or trust in Jesus’ ability to “save” (salvage) us! Our assurance or confidence is in our Savior. Romans 3:26, Romans 4:19-25, 1John 5:11-13, Matthew 1:21.

How does Christ dwell inside us?

Jesus lives inside us through the Holy Spirit. Praise God!!  Romans 8:8-11, John 14:16-18, John 16:7, John 17:20-26.

How do I know if Jesus is dwelling inside me?

The greatest demonstration of the fruit of the Spirit is love!! In other words God’s love dominates you and makes you more and more like Jesus!!

Here is how Pastor Lloyd Grolimund putts it:

“What happens when you receive the Holy Spirit?

  1. Christ comes to live inside you.
  2. You become loving, gentile, patient, peaceful and kind!!
  3. You become Jesus’ mouth, hands, and feet—preaching, teaching, healing, and casting out demons.
  4. This is what the world is crying out for—a manifestation of Christ in full power in the lives of believers!!” Praise God!!

Galatians 5:22-23, 1Corinthains 13:4-8, John 3:16-17.

Once Christ is inside us what happens then?

Again, Once we trust Jesus with our lives, He, our great Heavenly Physician, will perfectly heal and restore us, thus our assurance is in Jesus, not in our future or ourselves. This is reconciliation/atonement.  2Corinthains 5:17-18, 1John 3:1-3.

He literally lives out His life of victory inside us. Romans 8.: 3-4,8-11,Romans 5:10-11. All of this is accomplished in me because God is love. 1John 4:8, Jeremiah 31:3, 1Thessalonians 5:23-24 , Ezekiel 36:26-27.

Everything God does flows through His love to us!! This is why Paul says that we must comprehend God’s love, Ephesians 3:18.

This process is called Sanctification. Sanctification is nothing less than the process by which Christians become progressively more loving. Let me repeat that, Sanctification is the process by which we become more and more loving, making us more and more “just like Jesus!!” This is true Sanctification. 1John 3:2, Romans 3:26.

My part is to simply believe in Jesus with all of my heart and open the door and let Jesus in!! Revelation 3:20 Romans 4:19-21, Romans 10:9, Mark 12:28-31, John 17:20-26

God wants us to sit down and enjoy all the blessings we have in Christ.  He wants us to enjoy what He has done for us and realize that we are not to try to work at attaining these blessings.  They are ours by faith.  We are forgiven by faith, we are righteous by faith, we have eternal life by faith, and we are to be victorious over temptation and sin by faith. The truth is that Christ wants to literally live out His life in us; not simply add His power to our feeble efforts. 1Corinthians 1:30-31

Once more, we have the “assurance” of salvation when we “trust” Jesus with our life, that’s it. Our assurance or confidence is in our Savior alone. 1John 5:11-13.

The one thing above all others that Christ is desirous that we should know is that the Father has loved us even as He loves Jesus!! John 17:26

Truly this is righteousness by faith alone in Jesus!! Romans 3:26, Romans 4:21-25.

Jesus Our Great Heavenly Physician, Will Perfectly Heal, Restore And Save Us!!

This Is The Gospel!! Praise God!!!!

All of God’s Creative Power Is Available To Save Us!! Psalm 33:6-9, Romans 1:16-17, Titus 2:3-7
